Opona Garden is an old, mysterious building, apparently it was converted from a theme park into a convention centre, so it has a lot of quirks. Apricot Entertainment and Music Corporation are using it as a production studio while they film Popworld, last month I showed you the main stage, but Mia and Noah spend a lot of time in the dormitory.
Opona takes place over 7 days, and each day you'll have some free time to relax and explore the dorms. As you can see in the gif above, you can chat to NPCs, use vending machines and check out the various rooms on the ground floor.
At the moment I've coded the navigation as a list of options, but in the final game it'll work more like a point and click, e.g. you click on the door to walk through it, click in the distance to move forward... kind of like Google Street View or something.
The art is unfinished, and there are a lot of hallways and rooms for me to draw!! So I came up with a modular way of drawing these hallways that should save me some time:
Ok calm down, here's some furniture and details:
I'm drawing them on separate layers, so I can just drag and drop them to make the hallways look a bit more varied...
They fit in a bit better once I've done the shading and lighting effects. Ok, let's turn left...

...you might be confronted by some NPCs! Oh yeah, this is a new sprite I've been working on...
It's Erin! She's another contestant taking part in the reality show, her hobbies include vaping, yelling and being sneaky. She's not very friendly, but she's one of Mia's allies in Opona.
